Webinar on E-Textiles an upcoming business area

To: Members of the Coucnil

Dear Members,

We are pleased to inform you that council has organized a webinar about E-Textiles in association with IPC. E-Textiles is an upcoming business area and I am sure many SRTEPC members would like to know more about this.

WEBINAR ON E-TEXTILES: E-textiles is the concept of introducing electronics and interconnections by weaving it into the fabric itself. This possibility has widely opened up the future of textiles. Electronic Textiles emerging potential sector that brings together specialist in information technology, microsystems, electronics, material and textiles. The focus of this new area is on developing the enabling technologies and fabrication techniques for the economical manufacture of large – area, flexible, comfortable information systems which are expected to have unique applications for both consumer electronics, medical & military industry.

Market Analysis:  Moving from gadget-based approach to integrated smart fabrics, E Textiles can create substantial opportunities at the global level. According to Global Market Insights, the market for Smart and Interactive Textiles will surpass $6.5 billion by 2024. North America is the world’s largest smart textile market, representing over 45.5 per cent of the global market revenue. But the Asia Pacific region is projected to grow faster. China and India are two of the major manufacturers of smart textiles in the Asia Pacific market, are the largest producers of manufactured fibers, and are expected to dominate the global smart textile market in the near future.

IPC & E Textiles:  During 2017, members of the e-textiles industry approached IPC to help achieve their goal of developing E Textiles. The e-textiles industry is working together through IPC to develop industry standards, collaborate on education innovations and spurn the advancements of e-textiles.

IPC Speaker: Chris Jorgensen

Chris is the Director, Technology Transfer at IPC, based in United States. He is the Staff liaison for multiple IPC technical standards committees, including e-textiles, printed electronics, IPC Connected Factory Exchange (CFX), traceability, package placement and fiber optics.
