Circular No.MR/MIN/1206                                                              December 17, 2015

To: Members of the Council

Sub: Integrated Textile Development Project (ITDP) undertaken by the Government of West Bengal

Dear Sir,

The Council has been informed by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textiles; Govt. of West Bengal that it has come up with a new initiative – The Integrated Textile Development Project (ITDP) to establish West Bengal as a leading producer of globally competitive value added textiles and apparel products for both domestic as well as international markets. The project consists of 12 Textile Parks located at 12 different strategically important locations under 4 major categories viz., ‘Apparel & Garments’, Dyeing, Printing & Processing’, Power loom Cluster’ and ‘Hosiery & readymade Garment’.

The strategic location of West Bengal coupled with well connected airport and seaport makes it a gateway to the huge markets like Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma and entire South Asia. Abundant water resources, surplus power and large pool of skilled labour in West Bengal are some of the key advantages for the growth of the textile sector. The Govt. of Bengal over the last couple of years has taken a highly proactive role to ensure ease of doing business through Single Window Clearance mechanism and a transparent forward looking Textile Policy. Basic infrastructure support for roads, power sub-station and Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) will be provided by the Government of West Bengal alongwith various incentives / subsidies for individual units that would be set up in the Parks as per the Textile Policy of the state.

As desired by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises & Textiles; Govt. of West Bengal, please download the detailed presentation on the above mentioned initiative for your reference, information and use at your end.
