TO MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL

Dear Sir,

Interactive Session on Value Competitiveness (4th June, 2016 at New Delhi)

We are glad to inform you that Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is organizing an “Interactive Session on Value Competitiveness” at Niryat Bhawan, Rao Tula Ram Marg, Opp. Army Hospital Research & Referral, New Delhi-110 057 from 10 am to 5pm on 4th June, 2016 (Saturday). The sessions will be in the forenoon and post noon with tea breaks & lunch.

As you are aware, Global trade requires potential exporters to attain competitiveness, and for current exporters to sustain theirs. Competitiveness is mostly seen as "cost competitiveness", wherein suppliers compete mainly on cost, trying to undercut the competitors by offering a lower price. This is a zero sum game, forcing exporters to reduce their products/ offerings to "commodity" status. This also pushes the sellers down a price spiral, receiving reducing returns over a period of time.

When viewed from a buyer's perspective however, trade competitiveness is better seen as "value competitiveness" where exporters compete by offering better "value" to their customers, rather than the lowest possible cost. As customers, we do not normally buy the cheapest possible goods and services- we are always looking for the best value (for money). A business engaged in the "value competitiveness" space is focused on customers, which is where "value is created, perceived and paid for. The cost competitive stance is however focused on the competition, often losing sight of the customer needs, demands and trends.

Mr Vinod Sharma , a leading exporter who heads the Centre for International Studies on Development Economics , an internationally reputed organisation which  focus on economic growth through trade and foreign investment has invited to explain the concepts in details.

Given the importance of the subject you may please attend the Session. There is no participation fee but participants are required to fill the confirmation form.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,
