Sub: Request for suggestions on Pre-Budget Proposals 2023-24

Dear Member,

We have received a communication from the Trade Finance Section, Deptt. of Commerce seeking inputs for the Pre-Budget Proposals 2023–-24.

In this connection, we request our members to fill in the enclosed Proforma I & II and submit the same to the Council.

Please make a note of the following while preparing / submission of your pre-budget proposals:

  1. Budget Proposals should be complete in all respects, properly categorized and HS Codes for each commodity must be provided.
  2. Justification given in favour of the proposals shall be restricted to 300 words and Annexures should be used, if necessary
  3. Issues discussed year after year but never agreed to, may not be raised again.
  4. In view of the fiscal crisis, proposals of small reduction/exemption in custom/ excise duties, service tax etc. should be avoided unless they are absolutely necessary if such reduction/exemption are necessary, then ample justification should be given.
  5. Where temporary relief has been given to some sector for particular period (i.e. upto 31st March, 2023), then it should be re-examined and views may be submitted on these as well.

We would request you to please take a note of the above and kindly send us the Pre-Budget Proposals in the specified Proforma (I & II) enclosed with full details latest by 5th October, 2022 on the email Ids (ed@srtepc.inaed@srtepc.ines@srtepc.in) so that the Council can send consolidated proposals to the Government.

We solicit your support and co-operation in the matter and we look forward towards receiving your suggestions at the earliest.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
