Sub: Invitation to attend a programme on "Enhancing Circularity and Sustainability" in India to promote Sustainability & Circularity in Textiles for creating awareness amongst the Stakeholders & Consumers – January 30th, 2023 at 04:00 pm
Dear Member,
The Textiles Committee (TC) in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been implementing a project "Enhancing Circularity and Sustainability" in India. The main objective of the project is to minimise the negative environmental impact of the Indian Textiles by promoting sustainable practices and mainstream knowledge of circular production based practices in the Textiles and Apparels (T&A) sectors.
Under this programme, the TC and UNEP have been organising a campaign to promote sustainability in textiles for creating awareness amongst the stakeholders & consumers through social media. The awareness campaign will reach out to the young stakeholders & consumers within age bracket of 18-27 and 27-45 years (Generation Y/ Millennials) to bring out behavioural changes among the youth to wean them away from fast fashion in favour of more sustainable, environmental and resource friendly behaviour through positive messaging.
As a part of this initiative, the Textiles Committee is organising a programme on 30" January 2023 at Meeting Suite 204 A&B, Jio World Convention Centre, G Block, Bandra Kurla East, Opp. to Kautaliya Bhavan, Mumbai 400098 to unveil the Social Media Campaign collateral like reels, infographics etc. designed for the purpose. The programme will also deliberate on Sustainability & Circularity in Textiles Value Chain (TVC) in addition to discussing on the way forward on this important issue.
Smt. Darshana V. Jardosh, Hon'ble Minister of States for Textiles, Railway has kindly agreed to address the programme virtually as Chief Guest. The event is likely to be attended by Sr. Officers of Central & State Government, stakeholders of the textile industry including representatives from UNEP.
