21 October, 2016

TO MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL

Sub: 2nd Edition of INTEXPO Myanmar (Burma) 11 & 12th December, 2016

The Council is organizing its Second Edition of exclusive Indian Exhibition of Manmade and blended Textiles (INTEXPO Myanmar) in association with the Embassy of India in Myanmar and with the support of Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association.

The details of the proposed Exhibition are as follows:

Dates: 11 & 12th December 2016 (Sunday & Monday)

Venue: Ball Room, Park Royal Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar

Product Coverage: All types of fabrics needed for ladies dresses, shirtings, suitings, made-ups and different varieties of Manmade and blended yarns.

Subsidized Participation Fee (for a furnished booth of 9 Sqm) : Rs. 1,70,000/- only.

Market Development Assistance (MDA):  An amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh will be given to the 20 eligible member-participants on first-cum-first serve basis, subject to fulfillment of specified conditions.

Why to Participate in INTEXPO Myanmar (Burma):

  • Myanmar has of late become an important garment making Hub which is likely to cater to the major requirements of the European and American markets. The EU’s re-instatement of GSP facility to Myanmar has been encouraging significant investments in the Myanmar’s Garmenting Industry both --- from the country and through FDI.
  • Myanmar is mainly a Cotton producing country and hence currently it does not produce adequate amount of Manmade textiles such as Yarns and Fabrics. Accordingly, the market is occupied by imported manmade Yarns, Fabrics, Made-ups, etc. from China, Thailand, Japan and Korea.
  • Since India’s share in Myanmar’s import of MMF Textiles is only 0.20%, there is huge scope for the member-companies to develop/expand their exports to this emerging market which is likely to become USD 2 billion market by 2017.
  • Myanmar being the neighboring market for India, exports from India to Myanmar are having logistical advantage -- both by land route and sea route. Moreover, comfortable business relationship between both the countries is likely to help in increasing exports of Indian MMF textiles to Myanmar.
  • The varieties of Indian MMF textile products like Yarns, Fabrics, etc. will give alternative options to choose from to the Garment Industry in Myanmar, and complement each other. Hence, the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association has requested the Council to organize the Exhibition in Myanmar.
  • Given below are the trade figures – showing global import of MMF textile products by Myanmar along with India’s share of trade for MMF textiles in the Myanmar Textile Market during 2013.
