Sub: Removal of mandatory warehousing requirements for EOUs, STPIs, EHTPs etc. - Amendment to Notification 52/2003-Cus dated 31.03.2003.

Mumbai Customs has issued Public Notice No. 136/2016 dated 19.10.2016 on the above subject.
In this connection, attention is invited to the Board’s Circular No. 35/2016-Customs dated 29.07.2016 and Notification no. 44/2016- Customs dated 29.07.2016 regarding the amendments made in line with the Government’s Make in India initiative as a measure of improving the ‘ease of doing business’, wherein the compliance requirements with respect to warehousing provisions by these units are abolished and as an effect, these units would stand de-licensed as warehouses under the Customs Act with effect from 13 August 2016.
Members are requested to make note of the above.
