Sub: - Rationalization of procedures in handling exporters obligations under Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme (EPCG) authorizations

Dear Member,

Kindly refer to SRTEPC Circular No.ES/142 / 2016-17  October 17, 2016  wherein the Council informed you regarding a circular issued by CBEC vide has issued Instruction No. F. No. 605/71/2015-DBK dated 14.10.2016 by rationalizing the procedures regarding handling exporters obligations under EPCG authorizations to ensure transparent random selection criteria and selection for 5% check being made at least at Joint/Additional Commissioner level and the relevant exporter being always informed, on the date of selection itself, via official email communication that its case is selected for detailed checks. Also CBEC has restated to ensure credibility and transparency in the Bond cancellation process by making the process speedier and that the exporter should not be asked to routinely produce information that can be sourced from the Customs Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system.

Now, the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, JNCH (Nhava Sheva) has issued Public Notice no. 154/2016 dated 25.11.2016  on the above subject.

Members may kindly make note of the above.

Thanking you,

V. ANIL KUMAR
