Sub: Outsourcing by an authorized courier
Dear Member,
This is to inform you that the central Board of Excise and Custom has issued Circular No. 59/2016- Customs dated 02.12.2016 on the above subject.
Vide this Circular; the Director of Customs has agreed to relax certain rules in the clearance of imported courier shipments. Earlier an authorized Courier could not sub-contract/outsource functions permitted or required to be carried out by him to any other person, without the written permission of the Commissioner of Customs.
Now, Board has decided that for functions namely pick-up or local delivery of export/imported courier packages/shipments, transportation for officials and housekeeping activities permission will not be required. Prior intimation would be sufficient.
