Sub: Mandatory filing of Advance Filing of Bill of Entry in case of Less Container Load (LCL) cargo also
Dear Member,
This is to inform you that the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, JNCH (Nhava Sheva) has issued Public Notice No. 181/ 2016 dated 20.12.2016 on the above subject.
Study of the time taken by the various stakeholders in the import clearance procedure has revealed that delay on the part of the importers in filing the Bills of Entry is one of the major factors in overall delay in clearances of the imported consignments.
In view of the above, JNCH Customs has decided that advance /prior filing of Bills of Entry in the Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange. System (ICES system) for LCL cargo will be mandatory w.e.f. 01.01.2017, as a measure to ensure faster clearances, reduce dwell time of cargo and as a step towards ‘Ease of Doing Business’
