Sub: Amendment to Notification No.23/2003-Central Excise dated 31.03.2003

Dear Member,

CBEC has issued Notification No. 16/ 2017- C. Ex dated 30.06.2017 by making amendments in the Notification No. 23/2003- C. Excise dated 31.03.2003.

In the said notification, -

(a) in the opening paragraph , for the words , digits and brackets “Chapter, heading No. or sub -heading No. of the First Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) (hereinafter referred to as the Central Excise Tariff Act) ”,the words and digits “Chapter No. of the Fourth Schedule of the Central Excise Act, 1944” shall be substituted.

(b) in the TABLE, -

1. Sr. No’s 3A and 5 to 21 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted;

2. in Sr. No. 4, in Column (3), the words, figures and letters“, other than those referred to in Sr. Nos 5, 5A, 6, 7 and 7A of this Table” shall be omitted;

(c) after  the TABLE, in the ANNEXURE , the conditions at Sr. Nos 3A and 5 to 10 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted.
