Sub: Implementing electronic sealing for containers by exporters

Dear Member,

Kindly refer to Council’s Circular No. ES/106/2017-18 dated 04.07.2017 and CBEC Circular No.26/2017 dated July 1, 2017 regarding export procedures and sealing of containerized cargo.  

As you are aware, the Board had issued Circular No. 26/2017 dated July 1, 2017 simplifying procedure for stuffing and sealing of export from containers. The Board has now approved the procedures prescribed in the Circular No.36/2017 dated August 28, 2017 which shall be adhered to by exporters opting for self-sealing.

It is stated that all those exporters who were availing sealing at their factory premises under the system of supervised factory stuffing, will be automatically entitled for self-sealing. It is said that exporters who are currently operating the self-sealing procedure, need not seek permission from the concerned authorities.

It also prescribes the procedure for standard specification of the seal, application record keeping and data retrieval system in detail.

The new self-sealing procedure shall come into effect from 1st October, 2017, till then the existing procedure shall continue.
