Re : Participation in COLOMBIATEX during 21st to 23rd January 2018

Please refer our earlier circular dated 24th October, 2017 on the above subject. In this connection, as you are aware, TEXPROCIL is a Lead Agency for organizing participation of Indian companies in COLOMBIATEX January 2018, which is being held in Medellin on the above dates.  In this regard, though all the booths have already been sold long back, still if any member company is keen for participation in the above Event without MAI Subsidy of Rs.1 Lakh, they may like to confirm the same to us soon. Accordingly, in case, any cancellation subsequently takes place at the level of the Organizers of COLOMBIATEX, then the same can be given to those interested in participation in COLOMBIATEX at a location which will not be in the demarcated area of India Pavilion. For more details, please refer our circular, which is re-produced below, and contact us immediately.

Colombian Textile/Clothing Scenario :

Colombia’s Clothing and Textile Industry is one of the largest and most experienced in Latin America. High Fashion segments of the Industry are well-developed and globally known.  There is tremendous unexploited potential for export of yarn including polyester-cotton yarns & cotton and fabrics of different varieties from India. Polyester fabrics, lining materials including polyester-cotton and other blended fabrics are in good demand. There is also great interest for embroidered and high fashion fabrics and made-ups from India. Colombia is a net exporter of apparels with 57% of Colombian-produced clothings are sold to International market. Well-known international brands that are present in the market include Levis, Chevignon, Diesel, Fionucci, Girbaud and Esprit. Colombia’s total import of textiles & clothing from the world was around USD 1.89 Billion in 2016.  India’s share in the Colombian market is, however, a meager 9%. Leading Suppliers of textile & clothings to Colombia include China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, USA, Mexico, among others. Main countries from which Colombia imports Man Made Fibre (MMF) Textiles including Cotton are Mexico, USA, China, Republic of Korea, Brazil, Japan etc.
