Issues relating to exports

Circular No.ES/ 239/2017-18                                                                     November 29, 2017

To:  Members of the Council

Sub: Issues relating to exports

Dear Member,

As you are aware, India is a fast emerging market for textile exports. Even though textiles exports have not shown a positive growth in October, there is a hope that it will improve. The textile industry is here to grow provided it takes competition and innovation seriously.

You may be aware that the Government has fixed an export target for 2017-18 for the MMF textiles. However, in the current scenario, the achievement of this target appears to be difficult due to the effects of GST and there is a strong possibility of a decline in exports.

In view of the above, it is requested for an immediate task from all stakeholders to pause for a moment and take stock of the difficulties and chart plans for sustainability and growth of the Indian Textile Industry, particularly MMF segments.

It has been observed that our members are facing issues related to GST, Refund Process under GST, Drawback, ROSL, MEIS, Interest Equalisation Scheme, Policy and Procedural issues in DGFT, Customs, Export Infrastructure, Banking related matters etc. There may also be many other issues which may need special attention to facilitate textile exports from the country. In this regard, if you have any issues/suggestions related to matters to be taken up with any Government Organization, you kindly send us the same so that they can be taken up at appropriate level.

In order to revive the MMF Textile Sector and to boost exports, we request you to kindly send us your issues (in the Format enclosed) at the earliest to es@srtepc.in, ed@srtepc.in, baruah@srtepc.in so as to enable us to take up the issues with the concerned Ministry/Authority.

Thanking you,

SRI NARAIN AGGARWAL
