Re: Invitation to participate in COLOMBIATEX, Medellin from 22nd to 24th January     2019 with financial grant Under the MAI Scheme, MoC, Govt . of India.

Dear Members,

SRTEPC will be mobilizing participation of its member-companies and others in COLOMBIATEX, being organized in Medellin City, Colombia from 22nd to 24th January 2019.

Since the program is being organized under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India, all eligible participating companies will be given financial assistance through subsidized participation charges, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.

COLOMBIATEX is the largest Fair in Latin America for the entire Textile Value Chain, attracting buyers from all over the LAC region to source their textile requirements. The textile and apparel sector is one of the most important sectors in Colombia. The Colombian market offers tremendous opportunity for supply of yarns and fabrics for the manufacture of apparel.

The event will be publicized extensively by Inexmoda, the Organizers of the renowned International Fair in Colombia. The Council will also publicize the Fair suitably through a separate Exhibitors Catalogue, sending invites to relevant textile importers in Colombia and coordinate with the Indian Embassy to promote the event to the leading importers of textiles & clothing, among other publicity measures.

Product Profile: All types of Yarn, Fabrics, Fashion Fabrics including embroidered fabrics, Suiting, Shirting, Made-Ups, Fashion Accessories, Home Textiles etc, 

Participation Fees: The following booths are available on a ‘First Come First Serve Basis’ at the charges indicated against each:

  • 9.9 sqm         – Two Side Open – Rs. 3,00,000 (6 booths)
  • 9.9 sqm         – One Side Open – Rs. 2,80,000  (3 booths)
  • 9 sqm             – Two Side Open – Rs. 2,75,000 (2 booths)
  • 9 sqm            – One Side Open – Rs. 2,50,000 (5 booths)
  • 7.5 sqm         – Two Side Open – Rs. 2,30,000 (1 booth)
  • 7.5 sqm         – One Side Open – Rs. 2,00,000 (1 booth)
  • 6 sqm            – Two Side Open – Rs. 1,90,000 (1 booth)
  • 6 sqm            – One Side Open – Rs. 1,60,000 (1 booth)

The participation fee includes built up stall, spot lights, fascia board, 1 Power Point, one table, 3 chairs, 1 clothes rail and 3 shelves.

Please note that the participation fee is subsidized as per the MAI grant, but does not include airfare, hotel accommodation, transportation etc and the GST on participation fees has been waived off.

Financial Grant:

  1. As SRTEPC is organizing participation of member-companies in COLOMBIATEX, which is an approved program of MoC/MoT, Govt. of India under the MAI Scheme, all eligible participating companies have been offered MAI subsidy for reduced amount of participation charge as above, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.
  2. Participants will also be given reimbursement of the cost of airfares by Economy class, subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.
  3. Conditions for availing MAI subsidy:
  • Exporters, who have already availed subsidized fees for participation in the Fair under MAI Scheme for 3 or more times during the past years —will not be able to get MAI subsidy for the 4th time participation in the Fair. But they will be allowed to participate in the Fair without MAI subsidy.
  • An exporter can avail MAI benefit for participation in 2 approved events in a financial year.
  • An exporter can claim MAI benefit for participation in one booth only. Additional booths can be booked by the participant without MAI benefit (One booth per company only for MAI eligibility)

Visa: Though participants will have to obtain their visa on their own, the Council shall, however, facilitate their efforts to get Colombian Visa with the help of the Indian Embassy in Bogota, and the Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India

Hotel Reservation: Council will help to identify good hotels near to the venue at competitive rates in Medellin, in co-ordination with the Embassy of India for the benefit of our participants.

Travel Arrangements: SRTEPC will provide references of Travel Agencies to participants for arranging their group travels and help them for booking of air-tickets. If interested, the Agencies will provide details of suggested flight schedules and do the needful for your representatives in this regard.  However, cost of air-fares will have to be borne directly by concerned participating companies, and the same will have to be paid directly to the appointed Travel Agencies.

Colombian Textile/Clothing scenario: Colombia’s Clothing & Textile Industry is one of the largest and most experienced in Latin America.  The high fashion segments of the industry are well developed and globally known.  There is good potential for export of yarn including polyester-cotton yarns & cotton and fabrics, among other verities from India.  Polyester fabrics, lining materials including polyester-cotton and other blended fabrics are in good demand.  There is great interest for embroidered and high fashion fabrics and made-ups, suiting and shirting from India. Cotton fabrics and yarn are also demanded by the market. Colombia is a net exporter of apparels with 57% of Colombian-produced clothings is sold to the International market.  Well-known international brands that are present in the market include Levis, Chevignon, Diesel, Fionucci, Girbaud and Esprit.  Colombia’s total import of textiles & clothing from the world was around USD 1887.09 Million in 2017.  It’s global import of MMF Textiles was about USD 945 Million during the year 2017.  India’s share in the Colombian market is, however, a meager 7.3% (or around USD 69 Million).

  • Total import of man-made fibre textiles by Colombia in 2017 was US$ 945 Million, of which US$ 443.19 Million was yarn, US$ 286 Million was fabrics, US$ 131 Million was made-ups and US$ 85.17 Million was fibre.
  • Colombia’s import of MMF textiles from India during 2017 was US$ 69 Million - accounting for 7.30% share in its total import of MMF textiles.
  • Product share in the export basket of Indian MMF textiles to Colombia was yarn 80%, fabrics 13%, fibre 5% and made-ups 2%.
  • Main countries Colombia imported MMF textiles from were Mexico, USA, China, Republic of Korea, Brazil, Japan, etc.

Cancellation PolicyWithdrawal of participation from the above Fair will be allowed on the basis of the following:

  • 50% Cancellation charge, if withdrawn on or before 10th November, 2018
  • 75% cancellation charge, if withdrawn on or before 15th December, 2018
  • No refund will be available, if withdrawn after 15th December, 2018.

Booth Allocation will be done by SRTEPC and will be binding to all the exhibitors of the Council. In case of any grievance the decision of the Executive Director will be the final.

Apply for participation: Exporters registered with SRTEPC and other Textile and Apparel EPC’s can apply for participation. Members interested to participate are requested to send their duly filled in Application Form with participation fee by way of Demand Draft/Cheque at par in favour of “The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council, Mumbai. Participation charge may also be sent to the Council through RTGS/NEFT transfer based on the Bank details, given in the Application Form (download).
