Facilitation of Clearance of Import consignments due to delay in receiving of documents from China

Circular No.ES/246/2019-20                                              26th February, 2020

To:  Members of the Council

Sub: Facilitation of Clearance of Import consignments due to delay in receiving of documents from China

Dear Member,

Kindly refer to Council earlier Circular No.ES/241/2019-20  dated 21st February, 2020 in which JNCH had issued Public Notice No. 24/2020 dated 20th February, 2020 regarding facilitation of clearance of import containers due to delay in receiving of documents from China.

Now, Air Cargo Complex has issued Public Notice No. 49/2020 dated 21st February, 2020 on the above subject.

Post outbreak of Corona Virus, there is likelihood of import containers arriving from China being stranded at Air Cargo Complex due to non-receipt of basic import documents by the Indian consignees, resulting in late filing of Bills of Entry.

Keeping in view the emergency due to outbreak of Corona Virus in China and in order to facilitate clearance of the consignments, it has been decided by Air Cargo Complex in the public interest that–

Bills of Entry filed late for clearance of import consignments from China will not attract any late fee charges based on a letter submitted by the Importer/Custom Broker that the delay in filing the Bill of Entry was on account of non-receipt of documents from China.

Members may kindly make a note of the above and do the needful.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

S.BALARAJU
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
