Feedback on Impact of MSME package announced under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan on textiles industry

Sub: Feedback on Impact of MSME package announced under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan on textiles industry

As you are aware, recently the Government has announced the Stimulus Package Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan worth Rs 20 lakh crore to help industries including the Textile industry with a focus on the MSME segments, in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan Economic Package there are several focused initiatives announced for the MSME units viz., Rs. 3 lakh crore Emergency Working Capital Facility for Businesses, including MSMEs, Rs. 20,000 crore subordinate debt for stressed MSMEs, Rs. 50,000 crore equity infusion through MSME Fund of Funds, New Definition of MSME and other Measures for MSME, e-market linkage for MSMEs as a replacement for trade fairs and exhibitions, etc. A presentation listing the measures are attached for kind perusal and reference.

With reference to this stimulus package for MSMEs announced under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, this Council has been requested by the Ministry of Textiles to examine the possible impact of the measures, especially change in the definition (classification norms) of MSME, on the textiles industry and submit a report by end of day 21.05.2020.

Therefore, it is requested to all the Members of this Council to send their respective inputs/feedback by 4 pm today through email at ed@srtepc.in, baruah@srtepc.in, es@srtepc.in to help us send the consolidated inputs to the Ministry as desired.

It is to further clarify that the inputs/ feedback should incorporate a brief analysis of projected impact of the package mentioned above backed by data/evidence if possible.
