Sub.: Extension of validity of AEO certification for ease of renewal process
Dear Member,
JNCH Customs has issued Public Notice No.77/2020 dated 2nd July, 2020 extending the validity of AEO certification for ease of renewal process. In this regard, CBIC had also issued Circular No. 31/2020 – Customs dated 30th June, 2020.
Para 5.1 of CBIC Circular No. 33/2016-Customs dated 22nd July, 2016 amended vide Para (viii) of Circular 03/2018-Customs dated 17.01.2018, which relates to “Validity of AEO Certificate” and reads as —
"The validity of AEO certificate shall be three years for AEO-T1 and AEO-T2, and five years for AEO-T3 and AEO-LO"
CBIC has received representations from the field formations regarding difficulties being faced by the AEO entities in renewing their existing certifications owing to the lockdowns during Covid pandemic. References for the extension have also been received from some AEO entities.
Accordingly, the Board has decided to –
Extend the validity of all the AEO certificates expired/expiring between 1st March, 2020 and 30th September, 2020 to 30th September, 2020.
Except for those individuals against which a negative report is received during this period.
Accordingly, Circular No. 27/2020 dated 2nd June, 2020 stands modified as above.
In case of any difficulty, members may kindly contact Shri Dipin Singla, Joint Commissioner of Customs (AEO Cell, NS – III) through email on aeocell.jnch@gov.in.
Members may kindly make a note of the above details.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
S.BALARAJU
