Exporting to Indonesia – Challenges regarding

REF. MR/CIR/2020/083                                                                                       26th July, 2020

To the Members of the Council

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Sub: Exporting to Indonesia – Challenges regarding

We are glad to inform the Members that the Embassy of India in Jakarta, Indonesia is coordinating our efforts to boost exports of Manmade Fibre Textiles to Indonesia.

In this regard, this Council has received an official communication from the Commercial Section, Embassy of India , Jakarta, Indonesia seeking views in respect of exports to Indonesia of the Manmade Fibre Textiles falling under the Chapter 54 – Manmade fibre textiles manufactured from Manmade filaments and Chapter 60 -Knitted/Crocheted Fabrics respectively.

Currently, import of these Textiles by Indonesia from India doesnot figure in the top 20 commodities exported by India to Indonesia. However, though thereis no substantial duty difference in most of the productsfalling under Chapter 54 and 60, if these are sourced from Hong Kong and India, yet Hong Kong is the 3rd biggest competitor of India in Indonesia.

In view of above, Members are requested to give views/feedback regarding the constraints being faced by them in tapping the Indonesian Market in case of the Manmade Fibre Textiles falling under these two Chapters viz.,54 and 60 i.e., manufactured from Manmade filaments and Knitted/Crocheted Fabrics respectively.

The views/feedback received from the Members will help the Council to take up the issues suitably for addressing the same appropriately. Therefore, kindly send the views/feedback through email at ed@srtepc.in, baruah@srtepc.in  byTuesday 28th July 2020.

Thank you.

Regards,
