Dear Member,
We would like to inform you that we are celebrating 7th August, 2020 as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched on this day in 1905.
The objective of this day is to create awareness about the importance of handloom industry amongst the public at large and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country in general and to promote handlooms, increase income of weavers and enhance their pride in particular.
Our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji has urged that it should be an endeavour on part of all of us to use Indian Handlooms, we would therefore like our members to promote and publicize this day with their concerned buyers. Members may also request their clients to buy Handloom products and also advise their employees to wear and use Handlooms on the National Handloom Day. It is also requested to use standees, banners, etc. at the respective establishments, and host in the websites of the Members.
The more the world knows about the richness and diversity of these Indian handloom products, the greater our local weavers and artisans will be benefited. Moreover, the movement will also encourage the unknown skilled artisans who are highly talented but have not been in the forefront, this will be a unique opportunity for them to showcase their craftsmanship.
We would also like to mention that the Council is organizing Virtual Textile Exhibition "Source India 2020 Virtual 5.0" during 7th-9th September 2020 at http://sourceindia.srtepc.in.
The three-day event will give members a not-to-be-missed opportunity to showcase their latest range of MMF products to the discerning foreign buyers under a single platform and clinch fruitful business deals without the hassles of travelling.
We, therefore, request members to take advantage of this unique event and participate in large numbers.
