Re : SRTEPC exclusive Exhibitions / BSMs in Saudi Arabia & Kuwait

(13th to 21st Sept 2011)

SRTEPC is organising exclusive Exhibitions & Buyer-Seller Meets (BSMs) in the fast growing Saudi Arabia and Kuwait markets during September on the above mentioned dates.

Important varieties of Dress-materials required by Buyers :

For Saudi Arabia : We have a trade of Rs.579 crores with Saudi Arabia which includes Fabrics (Rs.378 crores), Made-ups (Rs.159), Yarn (Rs.29 crores). Considering the clothing style in Saudi Arabia, men mostly wear the traditional white thobes along with the red shemaghs. Women on the other hand, wear the black abayas and tarhas for everyday use. Despite the fact that all women wear the traditional abaya on top of their clothes, underneath the abaya, western dress is most common. Western dress is adopted more by the younger Saudi generation outside of school. Non-Saudi adults usually wear the western dress code.

For Kuwait : We have a small but fast growing trade of around Rs.93 crores, with Kuwait, which mainly include fabric (Rs.83 crores), made-ups (Rs.8 crores), among others. In Kuwait’s urban centers, western-style clothing is becoming popular, particularly with young people. However, many Kuwaiti’s still wear a dishdasha, a floor-length robe with a center front opening which is put on over the head. Many Kuwaiti women dress in western clothes. However, their traditional clothing such as the thobe (a straight-sided long overdress is still used on festive occasions).
