Sub: The Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Amendment Rules, 2021 

Dear Member,  

 

The Council has received a communication from the Trade Policy Division, Department of Commerce informing about a Gazette Notification No. G.S.R. 95(E) dated 1st February, 2021 issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution whereby amendments have been made in the Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2013. 

 

These rules may be called the Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Amendment Rules, 2021, and shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 

 

In the Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2013, in rule 5, after sub-rule (16), the following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely: 

 

“(17) The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories/ ISO:IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratories for calibration of weights and measures which are in conformity with the conditions specified in sub-rule (3) of rule 5 shall be eligible to be notified as Government Approved Test Centre subject to compliance of the provisions of the Act and the rules made thereunder”.
