Its first edition held in October 2013 in Sao Paulo, which exceeded expectations bringing together 340 exhibitors, and more than 5000 visitors. In the latest edition, the Show had a more qualified visitation than the previous years to check launches in the areas of fibres, yarn, trims, fabrics, home textiles, garments, etc. from Brazil, China, Italy, USA, Mexico, Peru, India, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Market Potential:

As you are aware, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is a huge market for export of textile products. During 2018 total imports of textile products (Textiles & Clothing) into LAC were around US$ 39 billion (equivalent to INR 2, 76,900 crores).  However, Indian exporters are still not very familiar with this highly potential LAC markets. Due to this vast textile market of the LAC region and immense scope for exports, Government of India has considered this region as a Focus Area for exports. Among the LAC countries, Brazil is the largest consumer and leading market for textiles. Brazil alone imported about US$ 6 billion of textile products from world during 2018. A growing per capita income and the influence of Western nations makes it a country with high potential for textile industry. In case of exports of Indian Manmade fibre textiles also Brazil emerged as the leading importer among the LAC countries during 2017-18.   Brazil is a member of MERCOSUR, which is the third largest integrated market after the European Union (EU), North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Growing Exports of MMF textiles:

In the Brazil’s total US$ 6 billion import of textile products during 2018, more than 50% (US$ 3.3 billion) was Manmade fibre textiles viz., yarns, fibres, fabrics and made-ups.

Indian exports of Manmade fibre (MMF) textiles to Brazil have witnessed significant growth during last 5 years from US$ 290 million in 2014 to US$ 386 million in 2018 and India’s current market share is at around 10% in Brazil. There is huge scope for increasing our exports of MMF textiles to Brazil. Yarns are major MMF textiles being exported from India to Brazil constituting about 92% of our MMF textiles exports to this market followed by Fibre 4%, Fabrics and Made-ups 2% each.
