Re : Invitation of Application to “Startup India Textile Grand Challenge” for innovative ideas & rewards

 

India is a global manufacturing hub for textiles and apparel, coping with growing international and domestic demand. The global textiles market is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2025. Similarly, the domestic market for apparel is estimated to reach $59.3 billion by 2022 and that for textiles to grow to $223 billion by 2021.  Innovation is the engine of growth for any sector and thus, the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India is accepting online Applications from the industry-heads to “Startup India Textile Grand Challenge” to bring innovative ideas on front and reward them.

 

Details of the “Startup India Textile Grand Challenge” are as follows :

 

1.Themes for Challenges : * Textile ; * Green Technology ; * Environment

2.Problem Statement : Single & Multi-Use Plastic Bag Alternatives
The challenge is split in 2 problem statements

  • Single Use plastic alternative

  • Multi Use plastic alternative

The expectation from the applications across both problem statements is:

- Using natural textile, biodegradable, low cost, indigenous, environment friendly alternatives such as Jute, cotton, wool, silk for replacing single and multi use plastic bags

- Suggesting cost effective, robust designs for the following segments of various capacities (volume and weight)

  • Groceries
  • Vegetables
  • Family Bag
  1. Relevant Industry                 :
    * Fashion ; * House-Hold Services ; *Social Impact ; *Textiles & Apparel
  2. Relevant Stakeholder           :
    Ideation Stage Startup ; Individual ; Validation Stage Startup ; Early Traction Startup ; Scaling Stage Startups.
  3. Eligibility Criteria                  :
  4. Open to all Startups / Innovative product/service that has showcased some measurable impact
  5. The product/service should at least be in any of the following stages –

• Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
• Proof of Concept (POC)
• The deployed solution which requires further scaling up

  1. Startups that have built a product across the relevant areas
  1. Application / Participation fee        : There is no fees to be paid

Single Use  Plastic Alternative-
First Winner- INR 3,00,000
Second Winner- INR 2,00,000
Third Winner- INR 1,00,000

Multi-Use Plastic Alternative-
First Winner- INR 3,00,000
Second Winner- INR 2,00,000
Third Winner- INR 1,00,000

8. Procedure Post Submission

1. On receipt of applications, there will be a preliminary check and due-diligence to scrutinize the applications.
2. Next, an interim jury of experts will review the eligible applications and shortlist the best entries on the basis of an evaluation criteria.

9. Last date of Application                     : 13th Feb 2020
