Sub.: Shri Mansukh Mandaviya reviews preparedness and activities of all Major Ports to deal with COVID-19 outbreak
Dear Member,
We would like to inform you that Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the situation at all major ports on 24th March, 2020 regarding cargo handling, Standing Operating Procedures (SOP), payment to casual labourers, etc., through video conferencing, with all the Chairpersons of ports and Director General, Shipping in this pandemic situation (Press Release issued by the Ministry of Shipping dated 24th March, 2020).
Please note the following-
More than 90% of exim cargo is handled through ports.
Ministry of Shipping is taking all-round measures for proper and smooth maintenance of the supply chain.
For easy movement of cargo at ports, the Ministry has prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to be adhered at all ports to fight against COVID-19.
Members may kindly make a note of the above.
