Sub: Pending drawback claims due to non-submission of Replies
Dear Member,
Mumbai Customs has issued Public Notice No. 36/2020 dated 1st June, 2020 on the above subject.
Your kind attention is invited to Public Notice Nos. 71/2019 dated 29th August, 2019 and 30/2020 dated 21st April, 2020 issued by Mumbai Customs since a large number of Drawback claims were pending due to non-submission of reply to query raised.
Several reminders were issued to the exporters to submit their reply so that the drawback claims can be processed at the earliest, but no reply was received. Hence, Mumbai Customs issued Public Notice No. 30/2020 dated 21st April, 2020 which displays a list of shipping bills pending due to queries raised and exporters are requested to submit reply at the earliest to enable this Customs House to liquidate this pendency.
Mumbai Customs has once again requested Exporters/ CHAs/ Other stakeholders to check the status of their drawback claims against a shipping Bill through ICEGATE and if any query is raised by the Drawback Section, they should submit their reply after viewing the status.
In case no replies to queries are received within 30 days after issuance of Public Notice from the Exporters/ CHAs/ Other stakeholders, their claims were processed as Zero in absence of the requisite documents/ clarifications without affecting the right of the exporter to claim the drawback amount by filing supplementary claim subsequently.
The exporter can file supplementary claims as per Rule 16 of the Duty Drawback Rules, 2017 along with the requisite documents/ clarifications within the stipulated time period as specified in law wherein their drawback claims can be processed @ZERO.
