Circular No. ES/300/2020-21                                                                  12th August, 2020

To: Members of the Council

Sub:  Launch of e-Office in O/o Principal Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-I

Dear Member,

Mumbai Customs has issued Public Notice No.47/2020 dated 10th August, 2020 on the above subject.

As you may be aware that JNCH too had issued Public Notice No.98/2020 dated 10th August, 2020 on the same lines.

It is once again informed that the E-Office application to carry out office work electronically in Mumbai Customs has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Govt. of India.

The application is designed for establishing a paperless environment in Government offices to increase efficiency. transparency, effectiveness, employee convenience and accountability and to give better services to the trade which in turn will bring an attitudinal shift and awareness and usher in more efficient, effective and transparent inter and intra government transactions.

The process will benefit the public in terms of increased accountability, assured data security and integrity and is also expected to be a huge transformation in work culture and ethics within the department.

The Taxpayers are encouraged to utilize electronic means of communication with the Department.

Since e-Office application requires pdf files, it would be convenient if communications/letters are sent to the Department by electronic means are in pdf format, better still if they are in searchable mode, for faster processing by the office.

We request our members to mention their mobile number and email in their communications to facilitate immediate acknowledgment by email and SMS through the application. They will receive the Diary Number allotted to their communications, which can be used as a reference by them while communicating with the Department in future.

In case of any difficulty, you may kindly contact Shri Arvind Kumar Singh, Joint Commissioner, Mumbai Customs Zone- I.

Members may kindly make a note of the above.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

S.BALARAJU
