Indian Textile/Clothing Exhibition in Dhaka, Bangladesh (INTEXPO BANGLADESH) during May 2016

Re : Participation in mega Indian Textile/Clothing Exhibition  in Dhaka, Bangladesh (INTEXPO BANGLADESH) during May 2016

As you are aware, the Council is scheduled to organize a Combined Exhibition of textiles/clothing in co-ordination with other Textile/Clothing Export Promotion Councils in Dhaka during May 2016.  This Mega Exhibition, which is being organized with the support of the Ministries of Commerce & Industry and Textiles, will be organized by the Council in association with High Commission of India in Dhaka and with the support of local textiles/clothing Trade Bodies to enhance the stature of the Event.  This programme will be held for 2 days either in a prestigious Hotel or Exhibition / Convention Center.  A Professional Event Management Agency is also being appointed to organize various requirements of the Exhibition and also to ensure success of the Event. 

Objectives of the Exhibition:

  1. Providing opportunities to Indian exporters to meet prospective buyers/agents to generate business enquiries.
  2. Helping the existing exporters to this market to further expand their contacts and give opportunities to new exporters to establish trade-contacts with their prospective customers/ buyers.
  3. Increasing awareness about Indian capabilities to facilitate further expansion in our trade with Bangladesh
  4. Understanding the specific requirements of the Bangladeshi buyers and traders of textiles, and identify consumer preferences.
  5. Explore possibilities to enable participating member-companies to discuss business with their Bangladeshi counter-parts sitting across the table during the exhibition.

Highlights of the Textile & Clothing Market in Bangladesh

  • A fast growing market for textiles
  • Emerged as the second largest apparel exporting country in the world
  • Readymade Garment Industry (RMG) in Bangladesh has seen a meteoric rise from 30 enterprises in 1980 to about 6000 in 2014-15 fiscal year.
  • RMG make up 78% of the country’s annual exports of US$ 24 billion. Analysts say the apparel export earnings can be more than doubled by the year 2020.
  • During 2014-15, Bangladesh has emerged as the 4th largest market for buying Indian MMF textiles.
  • Bangladesh imported around US$ 4 billion of Man-made fibre from the world during 2014, of which India’s share was only around 10%.
  • During 2014, Bangladesh imported around US$ 2 billion of man-made fibre – based fabrics from the world, of which India’s share was 11%.
  • During 2014, Bangladesh imported around US$ 900 Million of man-made fibrebased yarn from the world, of which India’s share was around 10%.
  • Exports of MMF Textiles from India to Bangladesh have steadily grown over the years to reach to the tune of US$ 338 million during 2014-15 -- recording a growth of 47% compared to the previous year.
  • Main items of export from India to Bangladesh are polyester filament fabrics, nylon filament fabrics, sarees, furnishing articles, laces, muffler, acrylic spun yarn, polyester texturised yarn, polyester cotton yarn, viscose staple fibre, polyester staple fibre etc.
  • The leading markets from which Bangladesh sources its requirements of textiles include Thailand China, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, South Korea, Indonesia, etc.
  • Bangladesh is now improving its competitiveness by reducing total production and distribution time, which will improve surface-level competitiveness by reducing lead time. It is also trying to diversify its markets to include Japan, Australia and other important international markets.

Visitors Promotion :  An extensive visitors Promotion Campaign through Direct Mails, special Invitations, Exhibitors’ Catalogues, Flyers, Advertisements in Trade Magazines and Newspapers, Press Release, Tele-marketing, will be executed to invite the potential buyers to visit participating Indian companies at the Exhibition. 

Terms and Conditions of the Exhibitions: Each participant will be given a standard exhibition-booth of 9 sqm size with necessary furnitures, display props, lights etc. to exhibit his products, and conduct meetings/negotiations with buyers/traders.  The other terms & conditions for participation in the above Exhibition are as follows :

  • Participation fee will not include expenses of participating firm’s representative’s air-fares, hotel expenses etc.
  • Each selected Company will have to depute a minimum of one senior Executive to the show.
  • The Council proposes to select around 50 companies for participation in the above Exhibition.
  • Booth package, which will be offered by the Council without any extra costs, will include : 1 discussion table, 3 chairs, 2 fabric display stands OR 3 yarn shelves OR 1 fabric display stands & 2 yarn shelves (depending on products for display), adequate lights, 1 power socket, Fascia board & 1 waste paper basket.  Any extra requirements, not included by the above, will be charged on actual basis by the Event Management Agency.

Assistance for participants :

Since the above mentioned Mega Exhibition of textiles / clothing is being organized by the Council under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce, the cost of participation will highly be subsidized, and hence no separate re-imbursement under MDA Scheme will be available. 

Visa:

The Council shall facilitate Bangladeshi Visa for participants with the help of the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh though the necessary costs will be borne by the concerned participants.

Hotel Reservation:

Though the necessary charges for hotel accommodation etc. will have to be borne by the concerned member-participants, the Council, will help in reserving rooms for participants at competitive rates in a hotel in Dhaka, which will be finalized in co-ordination with the High Commission of India & the concerned Event Management Agency. 

Travel Arrangements: 

An Official Travel Agency will be arranged for group travel and help in booking of air-tickets.  The Agency will provide details of suggested flight schedules and do the needful for your representatives in this regard.  However, air-fare will have to be borne by participating companies, and to be paid directly to the Travel Agency.  All participants are also free to book their air-tickets through their own Travel Agents.

Theme Pavilion:

On the occasion of INTEXPO BANGLADESH, a Theme Pavilion may be arranged to showcase India’s rich heritage of textiles and its massive capacities and widening range of products.

Not-to-be-missed Opportunity:  Participation in INTEXPO BANGLADESH, which will be organized by the Council exclusively for its member-companies, will provide a unique opportunity to Indian participants to show-case their complete range of products of textiles and explore possibilities of discussing business with their Bangladeshi counterparts. Participants are expected to get undivided attention of Buyers of textiles / clothing and their Agents during the Event.  Therefore, this will be a “not-to-be-missed opportunity” to the member-participants to develop / further expand their trade with Bangladesh in a big way.

As specific Dates, Venue, Event Management Agency and amount of participation charge in the above Mega Exhibition in Dhaka are being worked out, the same will be conveyed to you as soon as the same are finalized.
