Sub : Opening of Bank Account by Textile Workers
The Council has received a communiqué from the Ministry of Textiles requesting the Council to inform our Members having textile units to open bank accounts for their employees on a “priority basis” for receiving their wages through the banking system.
You may be aware that the first impact of demonetization has been largely affected to the workers of our Indian textile Industry. Textile Units have been facing the difficulty in paying salaries / wages to their employees / workers due to restriction on cash withdrawals.
The government has asked textile units to facilitate, on a “priority basis”, opening of bank accounts for their employees in order to ensure payment of wages through bank transfer mode.
You may also be aware that the textile sector is the second largest employment provider in the country.
In view of the above we advise our members to sensitize your workers / employees to open bank accounts to facilitate salary/wages. They should also be advised that their salaries / wages will be credited directly to their bank accounts. To achieve this, you are advised to hold camps for your workers / employees and educate them regarding the procedures to be followed to open bank accounts.
