Subject: Research study on Productivity & Competitiveness of Textile and Clothing Sector 

Dear Member,

We have received a communication from the National Productivity Council (NPC) informing the Council about a Research Study conducted by them on Productivity & Competitiveness of Textile and Clothing Sector in India during XII Plan. The study has been undertaken as a part of the XII Plan project sponsored by Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

In this connection, we would like to inform you that the National Productivity Council (NPC) is an autonomous organization, linked to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

Objective of the Study:

• The thrust of the study is to identify and understand major concerns and issues faced by the Textile sector in terms of productivity, employment, value addition, technology domestic and export competitiveness.

• The study is expected to come out with specific recommendations to facilitate policy formulation by Government of India to enhance productivity and export competitiveness of Textile and Clothing Sector.

The data/information/views would be collected from the manufacturing units through unit level field surveys with structured questionnaire (download).

Shri Prasad, Senior Consultant will be conducting field surveys for the above mentioned study and he will visit the cluster/unit during the month of November and December 2016 to collect relevant data/ information/views and also for discussions with manufacturing unit/Company/Association/Council with structured questionnaire/ checklist.

In this context you are requested to kindly cooperate with NPC study team and provide the requisite data/information for the successful completion of the field survey. The data/information/views provided would be used only for the study purposes and would be kept confidential.

You may kindly send your feedback as per the attached Questionnaire to Dr. K.P. Sunny, Director & Group Head (ES), of National Productivity Council (NCP) @ kp.sunny@npcindia.gov.in with a copy marked to SRTEPC.
