Sub: Registration of Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders and Non vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) under “Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009”; clarification about Public Notice No 158/2016-17, dated 25.11.2016; with a objective to reduce the dwell time for clearance of imported / export goods.
Dear Sir,
This is to inform you that Office of the Commissioner of Customs, JNCH has issued Public Notice No. 169/2016 dated 05.12.2016 regarding the registration of Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders and Non vessel operating common carrier under “ Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009.
In this connection, attention is invited of the Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders and Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC), other members of Trade and Industry, including all persons responsible for receipt, storage, delivery, dispatch or otherwise handling of imported goods and export goods in any capacity in a Customs area to the Public Notice No 158/2016-17, dated 25.11.2016 issued by JNCH in terms of Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009.
Doubts have been raised by Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders and Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) that they may not be required to obtain approval / registration under “Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009”on the following grounds:.
Aforesaid submissions and compliance requirements were examined and clarification given in the above Public Notice.
