Sub: Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) facilities to importer/exporter
Dear Member,
The Council has received an Office Memorandum from Office of DGFT, New Delhi vide dated March 12, 2018 informing about the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and the additional facilities that can be availed by an exporter under the AEO.
As per the Mid-Term review of Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 concluded, certain benefits were allowed to AEO certified entities as per para 4.07A of FTP 2015-20, which refers to self- ratification scheme, “where there is no SION/ valid Ad- hoc Norms for an export product and where SION has been notified but exporter intends to use additional inputs in the manufacturing process, eligible exporter can apply for an Advance Authorisation under this scheme on self declaration and self ratification basis only. An exporter (manufacturer or merchant) who holds AEO Certificate under Common Accreditation Programme of CBEC is eligible to opt for this scheme.
Moreover, these additional benefits have been incorporated in the AEO Programme Circular No. 33/2016-Cus dated July 22, 2016 by way of an amendment vide CBEC Circular No. 03/2018-Customs dated January 17, 2018. Besides, there are host of benefits for an importer/exporter as an AEO from Indian Customs. In this regard, members are requested to file applications for getting AEO accreditation by approaching the Jurisdictional AEO authorities with a copy to the Commissioner (DIC) for availing the benefits.
