Suggestions sought by Dept. of Commerce to develop districts as Export Hubs

Sub: Suggestions sought by Dept. of Commerce to develop districts as Export Hubs.

Sir,

This is to inform the members that the Council has received a correspondence from the Office of the Addl. DGFT Mumbai, Department of Commerce, Govt. of India regarding an initiative by the DGFT to develop the districts as Export Hubs.

In this connection, District Export Promotion Committees (DEPC) have been formed in each Districts. Further, such DEPCs have been mandated to identify focus Products/Services based on their Export Potential in the District and to prepare a District Export Action Plan which should be adopted by each District latest by 31st December 2020.

We would like to inform that textiles have been provisionally identified as one of the focus products for Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane and Palghar districts and the DGFT is seeking suggestions on action points that can be solved at district level. Some of the illustrated examples are as follows:

Requirement of any Infrastructure for example Road/Over-Bridge Construction/De-Congestion
Electricity/Public Transport related issue
Requirement of any Testing/Certification Facilities
Identification of Clusters and help regarding their recognition and related benefits
Building or Strengthening any Common Facility Centers
Any specific procedural/form simplification or Training/Mentoring needs etc

Further, it is informed that a Google Form has been created for collection of inputs/feedback regarding action points for District Export Action Plan by the DGFT.
